The United Nations Office in Burundi (BNUB) completed its Security Council mandate on 31 December 2014 and transferred its responsibilities to the UN Country Team consisting of agencies, funds and programmes, based on the UN Development Assistance Framework, known as UNDAF.

Visit to Burundi of Under Secretary-General

8 December 2014 - The United Nations Under Secretary-General for Political Affairs, Jeffrey Feltman, is to travel to Burundi on 10 December for a two-day visit.

During his staying, Feltman and the Burundian Minister of External Relations and International Cooperation, Laurent Kavakure will on 12 December co-chair the ceremony to mark the closing of the United Nations Office in Burundi.

On the other hand, USG Feltman will meet with Burundian authorities and attend the Burundi-Partners: Progress, Challenges and Prospects Roundtable scheduled for 11-12 December in Bujumbura.

This is the second time Mr. Feltman visits Burundi after a stay in February 2013, during which he was received by President Pierre Nkurunziza.
