Closure of BNUB

The United Nations Office in Burundi (BNUB) completed its Security Council mandate on 31 December 2014 and transferred its responsibilities to the UN Country Team consisting of agencies, funds and programmes, based on the UN Development Assistance Framework, known as UNDAF.

BNUB sponsors training on pre-electoral coverage for media correspondants

10 October 2013 - Approximately 30 journalists from national and local radio stations, national news agency and newspapers took part in a workshop for regional correspondants held in Gitega from 9 to 11 October and focused on « media coverage during the pre-electoral period ». The training was organi-zed by Burundian Journalists’ Union (UBJ) and sponsored by BNUB as part of the office’s national capacity reinforce-ment program.

In his remarks, BNUB Public Information officer Vladimir Monteiro reiterated the Office and the UN system in Bu-rundi commitment to continue working with the Govern-ment and other media actors towards the reinforcement of media professionalization, the promotion of press free-dom and the establishment of a peaceful environment in view of the preparations for 2015 elections.


Also related to media and 2015 elections, BNUB on 11 October host a meeting of bilateral and multilateral part-ners to discuss ways regarding their collaboration with Burundian media.
