Closure of UNMHA

The United Nations Mission to Support the Hudaydah Agreement (UNMHA) was established on 16 January 2019 pursuant to Security Council resolution 2452 (2019) to support the implementation of the Hudaydah Agreement in Yemen. Its mandate concluded on 31 March 2026, and United Nations support to peace efforts in Yemen continues under the leadership of the Office of the Special Envoy of the Secretary-General for Yemen (OSESGY).

During an official visit in Riyadh between 9-11 December, Officer-in-Charge of UNMHA, Mari Yamashita, held bilateral meetings with the Foreign Minister of Yemen, the Ambassadors of China, France, Greece, Japan, the Republic of Korea, the United Kingdom, the Gulf Cooperation Council and the Chargé d’Affaires of the United States.

Ms. Yamashita discussed with counterparts the ongoing review of UNMHA's mandate, the Mission’s operational posture and continued UN engagement in support of stability in Hudaydah Governorate. She underlined the Mission’s commitment to safeguarding the safety and security of UN personnel while continuing to uphold its mandate.
