Closure of UNMHA

The United Nations Mission to Support the Hudaydah Agreement (UNMHA) was established on 16 January 2019 pursuant to Security Council resolution 2452 (2019) to support the implementation of the Hudaydah Agreement in Yemen. Its mandate concluded on 31 March 2026, and United Nations support to peace efforts in Yemen continues under the leadership of the Office of the Special Envoy of the Secretary-General for Yemen (OSESGY).

UNMHA strengthens the implementation of its mandate in Hudaydah Governorate

Hudaydah 22 August 2024 – The United Nations Mission to support the Hudaydah Agreement (UNMHA) was established to support the parties in implementing their commitments. UNMHA remains determined to expand its operations across the Hudaydah Governorate to enhance its monitoring responsibilities following the renewal of its mandate by the United Nations Security Council Resolution 2742 of 8 July 2024. In this regard, the Mission is actively exploring opportunities to expand its activities and its presence in either Khawkhah or Hays districts. By strengthening its presence in these areas, UNMHA aims to reinforce its commitment to the people of Hudaydah and to enhance its engagements with both parties to effectively monitor and support the implementation of the Stockholm Agreement in line with the relevant Security Council resolutions
