UNMHA
United Nations Mission to Support the Hudaydah Agreement

Closure of UNMHA

The United Nations Mission to Support the Hudaydah Agreement (UNMHA) was established on 16 January 2019 pursuant to Security Council resolution 2452 (2019) to support the implementation of the Hudaydah Agreement in Yemen. Its mandate concluded on 31 March 2026, and United Nations support to peace efforts in Yemen continues under the leadership of the Office of the Special Envoy of the Secretary-General for Yemen (OSESGY).

Partnerships

UNMHA engages closely with United Nations agencies, funds, programmes and projects operating within Hudaydah Governorate, such as the United Nations Development Programme, the World Food Programme and the Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, along with other international and national non-governmental organizations operating locally. Through coordination and engagement with the parties, the Mission contributes to the enabling environment for the delivery of urgently needed humanitarian assistance and support to local communities in the Hudaydah governorate and the wider population of Yemen.

The Mission works closely with the Office of the Special Envoy of the Secretary-General for Yemen (OSESGY) on political matters relating to the implementation of the Hudaydah Agreement. In this regard, the Head of Mission and the Special Envoy work in constant collaboration to ensure the Mission is best able to implement its tasks and work in a manner that is complementary to the efforts of the Envoy to secure a wider peace in Yemen.
