Closure of UNMHA

The United Nations Mission to Support the Hudaydah Agreement (UNMHA) was established on 16 January 2019 pursuant to Security Council resolution 2452 (2019) to support the implementation of the Hudaydah Agreement in Yemen. Its mandate concluded on 31 March 2026, and United Nations support to peace efforts in Yemen continues under the leadership of the Office of the Special Envoy of the Secretary-General for Yemen (OSESGY).

Renewal of the Mandate of UNMHA until January 2026

Hudaydah, 15 July 2025 - On 14 July 2025, the United Nations Security Council adopted resolution 2786 and extend the mandate of the United Nations Mission to support the Hudaydah Agreement (UNMHA) as contained in resolution 2691 (2023), to support the implementation of the Hudaydah Agreement, until 28 January 2026. In the same resolution, the Council expressed its intention to review the full range of options for UNMHA’s mandate and requested the United Nations Secretary-General to present to the Council, before 28 November 2025, a further review of UNMHA. UNMHA remains fully committed to implementing its mandate in support of the Hudaydah Agreement and will continue to engage closely with the parties to the conflict in line with its objectives.
