Closure of UNMHA

The United Nations Mission to Support the Hudaydah Agreement (UNMHA) was established on 16 January 2019 pursuant to Security Council resolution 2452 (2019) to support the implementation of the Hudaydah Agreement in Yemen. Its mandate concluded on 31 March 2026, and United Nations support to peace efforts in Yemen continues under the leadership of the Office of the Special Envoy of the Secretary-General for Yemen (OSESGY).

UNMHA's Head of Mission briefs the Security Council on the situation in Hudaydah

HUDAYDAH, 13 June 2023 – UNMHA's Head of Mission and Chair of the Redeployment Coordination Committee Major General (rtd) Michael Beary briefed on the situation in Hudaydah in a closed session of the Security Council briefing on Yemen yesterday.

Maj. Gen Beary briefed on the activities of the Mission, including ceasefire monitoring and continuous efforts to maintain the civilian nature of the ports. He drew attention to the devastating impact of mines and explosive ordnance on the local population and assured the Council that UNMHA will continue to strengthen mine action coordination towards improving the situation.

Maj. Gen. Beary reiterated to the Council of UNMHA's commitment to furthering the UN's collective efforts toward stability and peace in Yemen.
