UNMHA expresses its deepest concerns for continued civilian casualties

HUDAYDAH, 29 August 2023 – UNMHA is gravely concerned about continued civilian deaths and injuries, most recently due to two incidents of landmines and other explosive remnants of war (ERW) in Ad Durayhimi district of Hudaydah Governorate.

This regrettable toll of civilian casualties serves as a reminder of the devastating impact of the conflict on the civilian population and the need for urgent intervention.

UNMHA condemns, in the strongest terms, any form of violations of the Hudaydah Agreement, especially those that impact the civilian population. The Mission also expresses its sincerest condolences to the bereaved families and wishes a full recovery to the injured.

UNMHA remains committed to supporting the parties to work together to find urgent and concrete measures that help alleviate the suffering of the local population and fulfil their obligations under international humanitarian law to protect civilians.
