UNMHA Head of Mission concludes visit to New York
UNMHA Head of Mission Major General (retd) Michael Beary concluded a week-long visit to New York last week, where he delivered his first in-person brief to the security council.
While in New York, Maj. Gen. Beary engaged with security council representatives from the permanent members of the council, and from India, Ireland, the UAE, and Norway.
He also met the Yemen Ambassador to the UN, Ambassador Abdullah Al-Saadi, whom he briefed on the activities of the Mission and stressed the importance of working together with the parties to address challenges and advance critical issues such as mine action.
Speaking during his visit, Maj. Gen. Beary said the Mission was working to expand its monitoring to access pockets of instability in the Southern districts of the Governorate and highlighted that the Mission had been able to increase its routine patrols to the ports of Hudaydah, As Salif and Ra Isa to support the maintenance of their civilian character.
