HUDAYDAH, 12 July 2023 – UNMHA's Head of Mission and Chair of the Redeployment Coordination Committee Major General (rtd) Michael Beary briefed on the situation in Hudaydah in a closed session of the Security Council briefing on Yemen Monday.

Maj. Gen Beary took stock of the steady progress in the implementation of the Mission’s mandate in the Hudaydah governorate, with a particular focus on the situation at the Hudaydah ports.

The Council unanimously adopted a resolution (2691) to extend the mandate of UNMHA for 12 months until 14 July 2024.

Maj. Gen. Beary stressed that, with the renewal of the mandate, UNMHA is poised to continue its vital work in supporting the parties in their efforts to achieve peace, under the Hudaydah Agreement or under any other framework to which they may agree.
