HUDAYDAH, 16 August 2023 – UNMHA's Head of Mission and Chair of the Redeployment Coordination Committee Major General (rtd) Michael Beary briefed on the situation in Hudaydah in a closed session of the Security Council briefing on Yemen today.

Maj. Gen Beary updated the Council on the developments in Hudaydah Governorate and activities carried out by UNMHA to implement its mandate, including the recent visits to Khawkhah and Hays districts, and thanked the authorities for their continued cooperation with the Mission. He drew attention to the continued impact of landmines and explosive remnants of war on civilians, noting that children remained the most affected.

Maj. Gen. Beary stressed that UNMHA would continue working with both parties to the Hudaydah agreement to advance its monitoring activities and to support their efforts to achieve peace.
