HUDAYDAH, 29 August 2020 — The Head of the United Nations Mission to Support the Hudaydah Agreement (UNMHA) and Chair of the Redeployment Coordination Committee (RCC), Abhijit Guha, is alarmed by the escalation of violence in the Governorate of Hudaydah.

The intense fighting that occurred around Hudaydah city in the morning of 27 August is of particular concern. General Guha also expresses concern about the repeated aerial strikes in al-Urj area, located between Hudaydah city and the port of al-Salif, between August 16 and August 23.

He is gravely worried by reports received of the use of a cluster munition during one of these air attacks. The RCC Chair calls on all parties to desist from any actions that are detrimental to the implementation of the Hudaydah Agreement reached in Stockholm on 13 December, 2018. He urges the parties to refrain from further activities that endanger the lives of civilians in the Governorate.
