UNMHA Deputy Head of Mission holds dialogue with women community leaders

UNMHA’s Deputy Head of Mission Vivian van de Perre concluded a two-day workshop with women community leaders from Hudaydah’s southern districts in Aden.

During the workshop, Ms van de Perre met with eight women representing local civil society. She listened to participants’ concerns and their narration of how the conflict has affected their communities. Discussions centred particularly on the impact of the conflict on women and other vulnerable members of society including the disabled, widows, the internally displaced and those maimed by mines and explosive remnants of war.

Ms van de Perre assured participants of the Mission’s continued interest to engage with them, listen to their concerns, and increase women’s participation in issues of importance to Hudaydah’s society.

The two-day workshop comes as part of UNMHA’s broader efforts to increase consultation with local communities in Hudaydah governorate and to advance the Women, Peace and Security (WPS) agenda, which remains a key priority for the Mission.
