08 Oct 2025 - The Secretary-General strongly condemns the continued arbitrary detentions of its personnel and its partners, as well as the ongoing unlawful seizure of UN premises and assets in areas under Houthi control. Most recently, the Houthi de facto authorities detained nine additional UN personnel, bringing the total number of arbitrarily detained UN staff to 53 since 2021.These actions hinder the UN’s ability to operate in Yemen and to deliver critical assistance. -
28 Sep 2025 - The Secretary-General condemns the continuing military escalation between Israel and the Houthis. On 24 September, the Houthis struck Eilat with a drone, reportedly resulting in 20 people injured, and, on 25 September, Israel conducted airstrikes on Sana’a, which reportedly killed at least nine people, including children, and injured over a hundred and fifty others. -

14 Sep 2025 - The members of the Security Council strongly condemned the detentions since 31 August of at least 21 United Nations personnel by the Houthis, as well as the forced entry into premises of the World Food Programme (WFP) and the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), and the seizure of UN property, in violation of international law. They stressed that the safety and security of UN personnel and property as well as the inviolability of UN premises must be guaranteed at all times. -

21 Jul 2025 - The Officer-in-Charge of UNMHA, Ms. Mari Yamashita, concluded her official visit to Riyadh on 21 July where she met with Saudi official, Yemeni officials, regional partners, and members of the diplomatic community. Against the backdrop of UNMHA’s mandate extension of 14 July, the visit provided an important opportunity to discuss recent developments, challenges, and opportunities for UNMHA’s efforts aimed at stabilization and de-escalation in Hudaydah. -

15 Jul 2025 - Hudaydah, 15 July 2025 - On 14 July 2025, the United Nations Security Council adopted resolution 2786 and extend the mandate of the United Nations Mission to support the Hudaydah Agreement (UNMHA) as contained in resolution 2691 (2023), to support the implementation of the Hudaydah Agreement, until 28 January 2026. -
