  • 19 Apr 2025 - The Secretary-General is gravely concerned about the airstrikes conducted by the United States over the course of 17 and 18 April in and around Yemen’s port of Ra’s Isa, which reportedly resulted in scores of civilian casualties, including five humanitarian workers injured.

  • 27 Dec 2024 - The Secretary-General is gravely concerned about intensified escalation in Yemen and Israel. Israeli airstrikes today on Sana’a International Airport, the Red Sea ports and power stations in Yemen are especially alarming. The airstrikes reportedly resulted in numerous casualties including at least three killed and dozens more injured.  
  • 21 Nov 2024 - HUDAYDAH, 21 November 2024 — The Head of Mission for the United Nations Mission to support the Hudaydah Agreement (UNMHA), Gen. (Ret.) Michael Beary, has concluded a week-long regional visit to Saudi Arabia and Jordan, aimed at strengthening cooperation and advancing the Mission’s objectives on the ground.
  • 15 Oct 2024 - On 15 October 2024, UNMHA Head of Mission, Maj. Gen. (ret.) Michael Beary, briefed the Security Council in closed consultations. warning of rising tensions in Hudaydah due to regional escalations. He highlighted the fragile stability and the recent airstrikes threatening key infrastructure in Hudaydah governorate. Indicating that Hudaydah’s ports, crucial for millions of Yemenis, are operational but at risk from further escalation.
  • 12 Sep 2024 - On 12 September 2024, UNMHA Head of Mission (HOM) Maj. Gen. (ret.) Michael Beary, briefed the Security Council in closed consultations. He reported on latest political developments affecting Hudaydah governorate, against the backdrop of ongoing ceasefire violations along the frontline. UNMHA HOM elaborated also on his recent high-level engagements, including in the context of the Redeployment Coordination Committee (RCC).
  • 21 Aug 2024 - Hudaydah 22 August 2024 – The United Nations Mission to support the Hudaydah Agreement (UNMHA) was established to support the parties in implementing their commitments.  UNMHA remains determined to expand its operations across the Hudaydah Governorate to enhance its monitoring responsibilities following the renewal of its mandate by the United Nations Security Council Resolution 2742 of 8 July 2024.

Michael Beary briefed the Security Council in closed consultations, following an open session with the Special Envoy of the Secretary-General Hans Grundberg and OCHA’s Director of the Financing and Partnerships Division Lisa Doughten. 
  • 24 Jul 2024 - Hudaydah, 24 July 2024 – Yesterday, UNMHA's Head of Mission and Co-chair of the Redeployment Coordination Committee Major General (rtd) Michael Beary briefed the Security Council in a closed session on Yemen, which included briefings from the UN Special Envoy for Yemen Hans Grundberg, and the Acting Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs Joyce Msuya.

    15 Jul 2024 - The United Nations Mission to support the Hudaydah Agreement (UNMHA) is pleased to announce the arrival of its new Deputy Head of Mission, Ms. Mari Yamashita of Japan. She deployed to Hudaydah on 2 July 2024, following engagements with counterparts in Aden and Sana’a, and courtesy calls with the diplomatic community in Amman.
